Well, it's been a couple days and Ambrose is doing well! The breathing tube was removed today and he is awake!!! He's still very sick but his fever is going down and he is on the mend. He's had tons of visitors and in typical Ambrose fashion was trying to make everyone laugh. Also in typical Ambrose fashion, he wants to know when he can leave- he's got band to play in!
Marching band is out- at least for now. His left kidney is still yet to start working again. He may be ready for school to start but has decided to only take the basics. If this pushes him a year back he doesn't care. He just wants to be back! He looked his doctor right in the eye and whispered, "I'm going back to school, even if it kills me!" Atta boy!
There is some concern over a couple things. First, will his kidney ever fully recover? It's the only one he's got and he inadvertently screwed it up. Time heals all wounds though so he's giving it time. They don't even want to think what will happen if it fails. He's doing well on dialysis but that can't last forever. Time, time. The next item of concern is one that Ambrose has chosen to accept as a battle scar- his voice is completely gone. Those that know Ambrose know that when he had his first huge accident the breathing tube nicked his vocal cords and gave him a unique, raspy voice. The fear is that it has happened again. He'll go in for a scope tomorrow.
Until next time,
Ambrose, OMG!!
