The Lochgren Series Story

The Lochgren Series is my first attempt at a chapter book, taking the ideas and thoughts already in my head and this blog and adding some new personalities, following their lives in a novel format as opposed to first-person posts and short narratives.

This story follows the lives of siblings Severin and Moira Lochgren, who are from the country of Jadali, and charts their experiences, thoughts, feelings, and actions as they attend a college very far away from their home. Severin has a deeply buried secret, a curse, that he hopes may someday be removed. Their reason for choosing this particular school is solely because one of the faculty has more knowledge about this sort of curse than anyone else and hope that he can give them advice and protection. This story is to be written in almost real time, beginning in the summer of 2011 and ending some time around 4 years later, based loosely off of experiences of my own. Its purpose is to provide a story easily accessible and readable by my friends. Below you may find a list of all of the chapters with new ones added as they are written.

Pre-Chapter 1:
An explanation of the main characters, Moira and Severin.

 The story of how Moira came to play flute.

Chapter 2:
Enter Severin
A narrative about Severin.

Chapter 3:
Moira's Last Day
A narrative of Moira's last day of high school and her feelings about it.

 Moira and Severin travel to their rental home.

Moira and Severin go to freshman orientation, meet some of the music majors, and meet Aslan Loch who becomes their flatmate.

Chapter 6:
The Ice Queen
 Moira meets Fiara May, a fellow flute-player, and they become friends.

 After a walk to the housing office in which many personalities are introduced, Aslan Loch moves into the rental home with Moira and Severin.

 Moira, Severin, and Aslan buy their books and return home, getting out their instruments and playing some tunes. Their neighbors on their right, who turn out to also be music majors, hear their music and come over to meet and chat.

 Not featuring Moira or Severin, this chapter is about Dr. Sorela getting asked to run the auditions for orchestra and discovering Severin's curse before they even meet.

 Severin meets an unexpected friend, Nathan Surcaston, who also knows about curses.

 Severin and Nathan meet percussion teacher Adam Langley in their theory class. This chapter paints a picture of Dr. Langley's personality and introduces a couple of the students in class.

Chapter 12:
Orchestra
Moirs and Severin experience the first day or orchestra, meeting many other personalities and introducing themselves to the class.

 Moira and Severin finally meet Dr. Sorela, the reason they chose this school to attend.

Chapter 14:
The Love of Airi
 Severin and Nathan meet Dr. Sorela's wife, Airi Sorela, in their ear training class, enjoying her personality.

Chapter 15:
The CHARMing Five
 Moira and her new friend Carey form a woodwind quintet.

Chapter 16:
Severin's Secret
Severin tells Aslan and Nathan about his curse and what it is.

 Nathan visits the Realm, presenting it in great detail, and then talks with a Terabikai past named Rupert Freloch who will train him to be an even better fighter and gives him lots of critically important information about curses.

Taking place on Thursday of the first week of school (chapter 14.5), this narrative introduces every music faculty member, a bit of detail about them, and notes the reactions of Moira and Severin.
