One More Makes 27

It was a quiet Sunday morning, nothing out of the ordinary, really. The sky was clear and it was warm. While snow was covering the cities of places nearby, here in the city of Tamila it felt more like a mild spring day. Lore Taylor, dressed in his Sunday best, appeared out of his house into the bright, sunny neighborhood. He had a look of excited anticipation on his face. Following him was his 6-year-old son, Elstan.

There had been lots of things going on since Elstan's birth that were different. It was very well known to almost everyone who knew him by now that he just didn't sleep. Every time his mother would check on him he would be awake- sometimes reading, sometimes playing with toys, or sometimes just thinking. He had been to the doctor to make sure nothing was wrong and everything was perfect. Not wanting to push anything, they accepted this odd fact as just a unique trait and learned to live as if it was normal. However, as of late, other things became apparent that were a bit... odd. Elstan was able to predict things right before they happened and was able to react quickly. He also was able to carry almost anything, including his older and much taller brother, with the strength of his father.

On this morning, Elstan followed his father into their large blue van. He had on his Sunday best as well and his soft brown hair was combed back nicely. He had beautiful brown eyes, a trait from his father, and was somewhat dark in appearance. He wasn't very old, only 6, but he seemed to already be wise beyond his years. After stumbling across some articles for a history paper, the oldest of the children, Amira, came across an abundance of knowledge about a very, very rare Catin gift known as Osai Naori. As she read it, it was like she was reading a description of her little brother. She brought this information to her parents, who first brushed it off, but were ever curious. They soon read it and could not take their minds off the fact that it almost perfectly described their son. They waited and watched, and as the months turned cold they were more and more convinced that something was indeed going on.

The two of them climbed into the van and began to drive to the home of Oreno Cole, a man who had been bestowed with, among other things, the ability to call forth the specific marks of several rare, great gifts. They had contacted him and it was then that they first heard the words of someone outside their family whisper "I think he has Osai Naori..."

Once in the car, they made the fairly short drive to a neighborhood not too far away. "Where are we going?" asked Elstan, quizzically. "We are going to Oreno Cole's house, to find out if our recent suspicions are true." his father replied. Elstan seemed satisfied with this and looked out the window at the houses go by. Finally, they arrived at his house and got out of the van. They walked up the wooden patio and rang the doorbell. They could see a figure approach the door and then the door opened. Smiling, Oreno greeted them, shook their hands, and led them to a small, secluded room. There were many comfortable chairs and the room radiated with warmth.

They all had a seat and began to talk. This man asked Elstan a lot of questions, like what his favorite things were, and then moved onto questions like how often he felt tired and what it was like when he foretold things. Finally, one of the last things he did, was turn off all the lights. It was completely dark and nothing could be seen. Oreno felt his way to a book, took it, and handed it to Elstan. He returned to his seat and declared "Elstan, I want you to try and read the first page of that book. If you can do so, then I am totally convinced that you have a VERY powerful gift." With that, Elstan opened the book and easily began to read from its pages, even in total darkness.

His father, along with Oreno, were completely taken aback. He read the words as if nothing was out of the ordinary! With shaking hands, Oreno switched the lights back on, told Elstan to look at him, took his hands, and whispered something in Catin, the phrase which would command the ring of triangles to glow in his eyes. They both looked into his brown eyes, and as he whispered the words, a bright white ring glowed in the iris and then faded away.

With tears in his eyes, Oreno looked at Elstan and said, "You are the next discovered Man of Osai. I never thought I would get to see this day. May you do many great things in your long life to come."

With that, a flood of knowledge swept over the 26 Men of Osai. The small pieces which were given so cryptically were connected and his name was heard loud and clear in all of their minds. The forums were soon flooded with the discovery. The youngest to be revealed into the Osai Kin, his name is Elstan Wade Taylor.
