Crestwork

I've been thinking of pureblood descendants and things like that lately (partially from the HP series and partially because I just love ancestry) so I was inspired to doodle down a chart in class of the really famous family crests of Jadali, along with some traits of each. Enjoy!

Lochgren
Lochgren is the most common crest in all of Jadali, composing over 1/4 of the total population. Lochgrens are quite famous for their large families and it is rare to have less than 6 children if one is of this crest. The stereotypical Lochgren has a rounded face with wavy blond hair, a really social and outgoing personality, and loads of wit. Lochgrens are generally masters of the arts due to their proximity to Kiillaana and the need to become self-sufficient in large families.

Lochmont
Lochmont is represented by the smallest amount of the population. They are well-known for a collective dark aura that they possess. The stereotypical Lochmont has straight or slightly wavy black hair, soft features, and dark eyes. They possess a quiet and introverted nature, and most are masters of the lands and animals due to the flat and pastoral geography of their province. Lochmonts are caring and friendly in a quiet way and have deep compassion for friends and family alike.

Freloch
Frelochs are all originally of another crest, as Isiador Freloch lost his wife in the Battle of the Enemy Uprising before he was transformed into the first Eldin of Leena. Those of the second and third generations that worked building Dahsir Castle and other buildings of Leena adopted this crest as their own, most being of Lochgren descent, as Akèli Lochgren is the daughter of Isiador Freloch. The stereotypical Freloch is a tall and muscular figure for men and a tall and sturdy figure for women. Frelochs generally live in Leena or Aradd-Aurora and are very hard working, mostly mastering skills present in a big city setting like transcription, ministry work, history, medicine, and any type of building like masonry and furniture making.

Balthòr
The Balthòr line is the second smallest original crest, after Lochmont, though it's still quite a bit bigger. Balthòrs are famous for traveling and establishing friendship with many people and most have mastery in trading or of skills that are bartered. Many are also masters of travel. The Balthòr province is well known for its many pubs- several in every town. The stereotypical Balthòr has wavy black hair and the darkest skin tone of the seven crests. Probably most stereotypical is their extreme extroversion and outspoken-ness and the fact that they can make conversation with anyone.

Montàlo
The Montàlo crest is one of two that established their land in the mountains. Several famous men and women have been of the Montàlo line and have been counted among the most well-known historical figures. The stereotypical Montàlo has very fair and light features and very blond or light brown wavy hair. They're shy and hidden and many obtain mastery in hunting or skills that pertain to the products of hunting (fletching, smithing, crafting of hides, etc). Montàlos are much like Lochmonts with their inward personality but stereotypically look opposite from each other.

Hieldin
The Hieldins make up the other province of the mountain range. Probably the most known outside of Jadali, this crest has presented some of the most prolific and outstanding authors, their works being published internationally. The stereotypical Hieldin has straight brown hair, pointed and elf-like features, earthy-toned eyes, and is what most outsiders picture when they hear the terms Tarralan and Jadali-Kiillra. Hieldins, whether or not they fit the stereotype, are almost always masters of the skills of nature such as Herblore, Riedlore, Botany, Medicine, and the like. Their fun-loving personality makes their villages popular tourist destinations. Many have joked that while the Balthòrs are the travelers, the Hieldins are the hosts.

Ardin
The Ardin crest is known for being the most isolated, with 95% living in the Ardin province, the furthest north past the mountains. The easiest way to access Ardin is by boat but mountain passages are also readily available. Because of their lifestyle however most never leave unless they choose to venture out on their own, leading to many jokes about the rarity of spotting Ardins. The stereotypical Ardin is very tall and strong with coarse, black hair, a rounded face, and very dark features. Most are farmers and ranchers and since their land is flat like that of the Lochmont Province they are masters of many of the same skills. Ardins are well known for their knowledge and determination and are very kind-hearted.

Famous Non-Pure Crests:
There are several crests that are very well-known and established that are either non-pure or evolved from one of the original 7.

Loch
(Non-Pure)
The most famous nonpure crest in Jadali is the Loch crest. Initiated in 1155, this new crest was given to the son of Mera Visi and Naidel Lochgren. Mera Visi himself is one of the most famous Jadali that ever lived and had a nonpure father named Trevin Loreloch and a pure mother, Diana Hieldin. He retained much of the Hieldin traits of his mother and they became dominant of the Loch crest, which has produced extremely skilled herbalists, with innate senses of flora and fauna that are still very strong to this day. Lochs can be found throughout Jadali (mostly in Leena), Catarika (throughout Rihanu and Andaradd), and Kiillaana.

'Airbhroch
(Pure)
Arguably the most famous pure sub-crest is that of the 'Airbhroch crest, initiated in 1376, to three of the sons and two daughters of Arador Montàlo. As a gift of his courage in battle, Osai caused several of his children to be born with red hair. These sons and daughters were told to adopt the 'Airbhroch crest and through time this unique trait spread from Jadali to Kiillaana where it can be seen today in a small number of the population. There is a considerable population of 'Airbhroch and 'Airbhroch descendants living in Dahhod.

Bhangren
(Pure)
Surfacing around the same time as the 'Airbhroch Crest, the Bhangren Crest was initiated in 1400 to a group of young boys, mostly Lochgren, who were immensely talented in the dealings of nature. The name translates to "green nature" and can be aurally translated as "green thumb." The crest quickly took hold, especially since just two generations later the Eldin of Leena, Meiro Bhangren, had this crest upon him. To this day, there are many Bhangrens in Jadali and Kiillaana and many are nature-loving and enjoy being among the flora and fauna.
