Full Name: Sarech Tamerche Sobol del Lochmont
Birthday: September 22, 1973
Method of Creation: #1- He started as a name! Also a little of #3 as I wanted to start writing about the people in Oja Diamond's life.
Creation Story
Sarech certainly has quite a story behind his name! His first name is the Keòen version of the name Cyreg which I got from Runescape. I never really thought much of it until suddenly one day I realized it would make a great Keòen name. So, I changed some of the sounds around and the fancy name Sarech was born. His middle name is almost as cool. All the time when I'm almost asleep random words and names pop into my head. I've been trying to be proactive about having a pen and paper handy to write them down and then laugh at what trippy things my mind conjures when I'm half awake. One day, it was the name Tanate Tamerg. No idea what it means or where it came from but I liked it so I took Tamerg and again put it into Keòen and made it Tamerche. His last name just came to me one random afternoon so I put it all together.
I didn't know until I drew him but he's pure, meaning he has the blue and brown eyes. This means that he hails from a pure crest and therefore has "del Lochmont" after his new crest to signify that if his fathers didn't change their names he would be a Lochmont. Sobol is the Dahhod-Keòen word for Chobhal or Sobhal, meaning ‘dweller.’ Also, as I was drawing him, I realized that, yes, he's from Dahhod!
As for who he is, I was thinking of things I could write about and since Oja Diamond has been on my mind a whole lot, along with Tarra and Dahhod, I decided it was time to write about the people like his professors. Dr. Sobol became his clarinet professor and a very close friend, similar to the way Dr. Sorela is very close to some of his students. Oja considers SaSo (his nickname since his name is a little hard to say) one of his greatest friends and they often host each others' families for dinner. Sarech is a great man- he is outgoing, extroverted, and kind. He is quite tall, especially for a Lochmont (he claims to have lots of Ardin blood), and has a cheeky grin along with his dark, twinkling eyes. He is always the one to be upbeat and keep lessons and classes interesting. He has the gift of being an energy source and people are drawn to him to be energized.
A Short Bio
Sarech was born in Dahhod late in 1973. He later found out that his birthday was the day before Dr. Sorela and was always proud of this fact. Growing up, he was surrounded by music and felt like the clarinet was his calling. He started playing at the age of 10 and hardly set it down, playing at places like Sothrey Tavern whenever he had the chance. He mastered the instrument very quickly and worked diligently around his home and the city earning enough money to travel to Kaywood where he purchased his very own handmade clarinet signed by its maker, Teslun Kolani. His charismatic personality caught the eye of all the workers and he travels there every summer to participate in the annual Week of Reeds that Kaywood puts on.
After Sarech graduated from high school in 1992 he attended University of Baydi, Tarra (UBT), majoring in clarinet performance and graduating in 1996. It was during this time that he met his wife, Kaila Lochmont, while raking leaves one fall evening in Dahhod. It was common for Dahhodites to do these small jobs rather than have a big job while going to school and it helped many a person find a best friend or future spouse. They were married in 1994 when Sarech was 21 and Kaila was nearly 23 in the same brightly-colored scenery of leaves where they met.
Once Sarech graduated from UBT in 1996 (Kaila had graduated 2 years earlier with a degree in education) they moved to the nation's capital where Sarech got his masters and PhD in clarinet performance at the Tevernid School of Music, graduating in 2000. While attending TSOM, he became very good friends with another grad student in his year, Kenyon Nihael, who he still visits often, as they have the connection of the Sorela family to help keep them in contact.
Things worked out in Dr. Sobol's favor as the clarinet position at UBT was opened just two years after he graduated and it had his name on it. He applied for the position and was hired so he and Kaila returned happily to Dahhod to begin the rest of their lives in their careers. Every weekday, Sarech makes the short ride by bus to the train station where he, along with about 25 others, catches the 6:00 train to the Tarra hub, eventually arriving at the UBT campus at about 8:00. Many music students look forward to his arrival and he is sure to greet all of them by name as he cheerily walks to his office, right next to that of his godfather, Merkeir Larkos.
(A bit about Dr. Larkos)
When Sarech was born, the best friend of his father was named his godfather. He would eventually go on to become professor of oboe at UBT in 1996. Merkeir and Sarech go out to lunch at the nearby cafe every day, always ordering the daily special, chatting away in Keòen and always sharing stories.
Since their return to Dahhod, Sarech and Kaila have had three children: Odessa (1999), Danil Tesin (2000), and Clarissa (2004). All three are heavily involved in the music and dance traditions of their lovely city.
I now leave you with fine fun facts about this wonderful guy!
1. He lives just up the street from Ashlan Sorela.
2. He still loves raking leaves more than anything non-music related. :P
3. He has a brother who took on the Lochmont crest (and not the Sobol crest).
4. His first language was Keòen and he says he always thinks in it, sometimes speaking it when he doesn't mean to.
5. He loves hiking in the forest with his family. Once they reach their favorite spot, he plays his favorite pieces which echo off the rocks and flow across the river.
