Fast Facts:
- Ashton Caleb Roland is one of the few Osanokai who goes by his full name, the other notable two being S. R. Sorela and Elstan Wade Taylor.
- He also has the rarest blood, the Rakanta line.
- He is the son of Alton Noble Roland and Jadine Moren and has 7 siblings: Griffith Caiden Roland (1971), Annika Roland Smith (1976), Jeffrey Adam Roland (1977), Zoey Roland Hill (1979), Hector Shane Roland (1981), Adrian Willard Roland (1984), and Thomas Elwin Roland (1985). He has 1 older brother, 4 younger brothers, and 2 younger sisters.
- He grew up on a farm and was well known for being the last to go to bed and the first in the fields in the morning.
- He had his own pet horse which he named Coddington.
- He loved cabbage and would often play pranks on his siblings, always involving a cabbage somehow.
- He was a dark and quiet soul but was also filled with kindness and hardly ever fought with his siblings.
- Every morning without fail he would set off to do the farm work and seemed to have a super strength. As his family watched him they slowly realized that he was not like other people. Eventually they realized that he did not actually go to bed most nights and could be found in the barn tending to the animals. At first his parents made him go to bed but after a while they let him stay out in an attempt to teach him a lesson when he got tired. It didn't work and he happily went about his business with no sleep.
- Ashton Caleb Roland was discovered at the age of 10. His father went to a local pub with some good friends and the story of his lack of sleep came up. A wise old friend and bartender overheard and remarked, "There's a name for people like that... Men of Osai! I think your son may be one!" After that Alton looked into this and talked to the local Aikada (in Kevian, "Gift-Caller") who felt certain that Osai's Gift ran through Ashton Caleb's blood. He went to the family farm and, in front of the whole family, called forth the mark in his eyes which glowed brightly. From then on, his life was a very different one.
- He became highly interested in his lineage and set off for Greenleaf of Whiteland to study the library archives after he graduated from Secondary School in 1992. He went to Lerlies University where he studied history and became an expert in Cayadoran History.
- He met the beautiful Katherine Bowden during his late high school years and they were married in 1994. They have 3 children- Osiel Aulivar Roland (1996), Tanya Roland (1999), and Isidor Artem Roland (2002).
- He does not teach history as a profession but is an independent researcher and expert on Cayadoran Linear History, often sought out by journalists and other researchers to share his knowledge. He is a very popular person for any history detective to go to for anything related to his country.
- He is one of the only Osanokai to be deemed as an actual village Aikada.
- Even though he has moved away from his parents, he is still a farmer and owns his own farm which he tends to with his wife and children.
- Every summer he goes to nearby Jadali with his family to go on a provincial tour and to meet with Ilonwyn Lochmont, a very close friend.
- Ilonwyn Lochmont and Ashton Caleb Roland are an "unofficial" pair and meet up as often as they can.
- He has written many documents and is a co-author of the Encyclopedia of Cayadoran History.
A man of the field, Ashton Caleb Roland is almost always outside doing something with the land. He wears the clothing typical of Jadali and Cayadoran farmers and his dark appearance is enhanced by his long, wavy, dirty-blonde hair which forms lovely locks around his square face. His eyes are very deep set and his brow is furrowed as he ponders and receives bits of vision throughout his days. His somewhat hardened face looks as if it has seen a thousand sunsets without rest, taking in all their beauty. He is one of the few Osanokai to have any facial hair at all and has a short, stubbly beard- one that grows quickly and must be maintained by a close shave every day.
As he tills the fields this day to prepare them for the new seeds, he sings. All day long his cheery melodies fill the air. Often these are songs straight from Jadali and sung in the beautiful language of Keòen. His children also tend the fields and work with him and he smiles as they share song and story as they go about with their garden tools. His wife stand nearby, take a brief rest from her daily goings on in the barn. A very strong aura of love fills their whole home and it is clear to see that he is very passionate about his work.
