Nationality: Kiillaanian

Title: Gardener/Landscaper

Fast Facts:
  • Despite his very Catin name, Kaitano is a Kiillaana native. He is the son of Alton Kitala and Katijil Lihon, who both worked aboard the major ferry that traveled from Aiimatl to Tumira.
  • He is the oldest of two, and has a much younger brother, Magellan Kitala (1946), nearly 17 years his junior.
  • From a young age he would travel on the ferry between Catarika and Kiillaana and learned to love the sea. He spent the school year attending all grades in Kiillaana and in the summers he would travel around Catarika. He loved this and looked forward to that summer trip every year.
  • As he got to be elementary aged, his parents noticed that he never got tired on trips and on the rare occasion that they flew to Catarika or Kiillaana he had no jet lag at all, even after he spent the whole time on the plane awake talking to other passengers or reading.
  • In the 3rd grade his class did a genealogy project where he discovered he was a direct descendant of the Migali line, something his parents didn't know, because it went back a couple generations. Kaitano heard a clear voice telling him to remember and study that.
  • In the 4th grade, just a year later, he got to do a project on Akira del Rihanu, one of the original Men of Osai, the man whose family would become the Migali crest. He felt an immediate connection to him, knowing he was related to him in almost a straight line.
  • As he worked on this, he learned about the Gift of Osai and, in a flash, saw himself on the list of Men. He knew without a doubt that he had this and told his parents of his vision. They were familiar with Osai Naori and waited until Daso Osano (Full Moon) when they took him out into the moonlight to see if his eyes glowed. They did, and brightly, so they took him to the Aikada for confirmation and so that his name could be added to the list.
  • Kaitano recorded that momentous occasion with these words: "In that moment, when I looked at the moon, I could feel a great warmth and heard the cheers of thousands. I perceived once more that my name was to be added to the list and I could clearly see a list of 11 names, mine being second to last, with Tano Sobato clearly marked before mine, and the young Ari Salo marked below. I saw all of their faces smiling and clearly heard Osai whisper 'Isvari ni, Kaitano' and with that, the vision ended, as quickly as it had begun. My parents were both smiling and we embraced. Never had I felt such power as I had that day."
  • He was added to the list of now 11 in the spring of 1939, at the age of 10.
  • Having Migali blood, he quickly realized that he did indeed have the inherent insight of gardening. He later recalled that after he was discovered he "could no longer look at an area of land and not see the amazing foliage that was just beckoning to be placed there."
  • He had a very clear impression of who he was to marry, and his junior year of high school he finally found her. She was a new student who had just moved from Nova named Susan Johnson. He immediately befriended her and they were best friends from then on. They started dating their senior year and were married right after Kaitano's 18th birthday in August 1946. Just 3 months earlier, Kaitano's younger brother Magellan was born.
  • Kaitano and Susan attended Rellin University where he studied Botany and Agriculture and she studied Botany. They both worked at the university greenhouse and once they graduated Kaitano became a landscaper and Susan became a florist.
  • They had 5 children- Mary Kitala Holtz (1948), Kasari Kitala (1949), Marina Kitala Kye (1952), Ravosilu Kitala (1954), and Isaac Kitala (1956). Both Marina and Isaac moved to Isle Del Akai and changed their names to Marina Kye Moonset and Panther Isaac Kitala Firebird respectively.
  • Kaitano and Susan are still very active and love to travel to the various geographical regions of Kiillaana studying the landscape as they go. They both say their favorite region is the Anguadorian Rainforest.
  • Kaitano regularly travels to Catarika to meet up with the Osanokai there.
  • He hosts many events at his house, in his huge backyard which he is famous for.

A Short Description

If someone is looking for Kaitano Kitala, they can be sure to find him somewhere in his back yard. The only problem is where, for his backyard is huge and includes an excellent formal garden, a quiet grove of trees to the north, a wonderful lawn for gatherings, and several greenhouses growing amazing plants and food to eat. A beautiful woman with very long, straight, silvery hair, clad in green, emerges from the greenhouse to the northeast. In her hands she has an amazing bouquet of flowers that she is carrying to the house to give to a friend. As she approaches she smiles and points towards the trees to the northwest, saying in that lovely Nova accent she has never lost, "He is there!"

A man appears from between the ornate bushes surrounding the trees and walks over. He is very dark but yet light as well. He has on a blue plaid jacket to keep the dirt off his arms and is carrying a sapling. As he approaches the deck he sets it down and smiles. As he speaks, his accent in unique- a blend of the Vetonian drawl, the delicate accent of Nova and Tevernid, the light speech of the Denzeltonia region, with tiny hints of Catin on his T, L, K, and R. He looks as if he has pondered a thousand years and all of his features are very dark, but are lightened just right by his smile. He is very happy and loves what he does and loves to tell others about it. He is muscular from years of working with plants and trees and is the man to go to with any landscaping questions, big or small. He also takes pride in his vegetable garden that he and his wife care for, growing much of their own food which they use and give to others in need.

He is very well known in his city and takes the time to talk to eveyone on the street as he walks by. There isn't a place that he goes where he is not recognized. He speaks often, mostly about his life as a Man of Osai or about gardening, and his favorite word is "Tarralan" ("treefellow/elf") which he uses often with a laugh, to describe his down-to-earth way of life. He has such a great love for his wife, children, grandchildren, and beyond. Also living nearby is his brother Magellan who is only a couple of years older than his oldest child, and Kaitano loves him and his own family dearly.

Kaitano is truly a Man of Osai, a straight up Migali without a shadow of a doubt.
