Mera Visi

Who is he? Where did he come from? Why is he important? To which groups is he important?

I have decided to make this an unstructured post because there's really no way for me to explain it all. So, here comes a bullet list!

Early Life

  • Mera Visi (meh'*rha vi'*si) is Keoen. Mera means "keeper" and visi means "of vision." The name together does not signify that he is the keeper of visions; it is not a title. It means that he was first seen in vision and is therefore "of vision" as opposed to "of flesh" or something similar. His first name, meaning keeper, refers to his strong sense of protection and trust. He is a keeper of people's well-being.
  • Records say that he was named so because his father did see his son in a dream before he was born. In this dream, which has been recorded, his father described his son as "tall, dark, and strong" and "imbued with a great power which flowed within him, like that of Terabi's people."
  • Mera Visi is the son and only child of Trevin Loreloch and Diana Hieldin. Because he was seen in a vision it was assumed that he would hold a position of great prominence and therefore was not given the last name of Loreloch but was independently named.
  • Mera Visi was born on one July 7, 1125, in the small village of Thahro del Mont (Trader Hills). This village is located at the base of the Rhinamont (Capital Mountains) and is the capital of Balthòr.
  • He is not of the pure Jadali-Kiillra race so he does not have one brown and one blue eye; rather, his eyes are actually green. However his ancestors have been traced to the second generation of the Jadali-Kiillra and they came from Tevernid before that.
  • When Mera Visi was born there was an almost godlike power that flowed through him. Although not recorded by his father, it was recorded by Mera Visi himself.
His Great Power
  • Sure enough, at the age of seven, on the day of one August 6, 1132, Mera was taken into Terabi's Realm and was given the powerful Catin spiritual gift, Terabi Tana. As he was initiated and taught by Terabi himself, he was admonished to make a detailed record of events that occurred in the Realm. He followed this counsel closely and began a journal that very day. As he grew older he recounted this experience several times stating "I had never felt so empowered and filled with love and compassion for my fellow man than I did that day when Terabi instructed me of the things which I should know concerning his powers."
  • He obtained a blade of lovelight that day which shaped and formed in his hands. He made such accurate descriptions and drawings of it that a metal replica statue of it made by his dear friend Iaso Montalo stands on an anvil of marble in the garden court of Dahsir Castle on his memorial site.
  • His blade is a two-handed sword and he is one of very few who wield this form of sword. Most people with Terabi Tana have scimitars or basic swords. Having a two-handed sword is quite unique.
Later Life and Notable Things
  • Mera Visi is an herbalist by trade and became a double master of his art. His desire to serve and protect others led him to be very respected and he learned and taught of several new potions. He also discovered many things along with the Jadali-Kiillra (who are natural herbalists) which were made known to them.
  • Mera Visi is most famous for saving people from the Curse of the Realm. In this time, the curse was pretty strong and armed with his knowledge he saved many people. Probably the most well-known records are of his experiences with Aranel Balthòr, who was subject to the curse on a greater level than anyone known in history until the arrival of Dr. Sorela. He could be found at his home near Dahsir Castle, which is known to be the place where the Curse of the Realm is experienced the most of anywhere in the world. Nobody is sure why this is, but this castle has enormous significance in Catin and Kiillaanian history. It has been said that Terabi considers this castle to be a figure of great beauty and peace and many of the encounters people have with him in the flesh are within its walls.
Later Life
  • Mera Visi worked for many years and served the Eldin of Leena, Kalo Freloch, for most of his life. Because the Eldin has Osai Naori, the two worked together on many occasion (Osai and Terabi are very closely related, possibly as cousins, and were and still remain very close).
  • He married Naidel Lochgren on one December 4, 1152 and had one son, Jeffrey Loch, on one March 9, 1155. His son became a great warrior and is remembered for his skill in battle.
  • Mera Visi was transformed to the Realm on one July 8, 1220, a day after his 95th birthday. People with Terabi Tana do not die. Rather, they are called home and step into the realm for the last time. Typically they have some sort of ceremony prior to this and at the end, when ready, they enter the Realm, this time taking their carnal body with them. Mera Visi was translated to the Realm in the courtyard of Dahsir Castle and the location is marked with a marble anvil displaying the replica of his blade of lovelight made by Iaso Montàlo. He now does many things including teaching the new Terabikai, talking among others, fighting monsters, and giving lessons on the history of Jadali.
  • A statue of Mera Visi can be found in the centre square of Leena. It is made of bronze.
  • Mera Visi is based nearly 100% off a real person. I'll never tell who. ;)
