Splashes of Kyle

...a collection of works featuring the 'antagonist' of the Jeffrey Peak stories.

First, a taste of something already written. Go here for the opener which introduced him, or here to read about one of the times he slipped the worst!

I imagine this in real life to be little snippets of paragraphs tapes in a random web cloud mess to the back of a door or something. For this post it'll just be randomness.

Here is a little mini spotlight on him:
  • His name is Kyle and he is just known as Kyle. He has a last name, but as it is pretty common I know that there are going to be lots of people out there with his name so I don't want to go outright and say it. It's Walker. He doesn't have a middle name, that I know of. If I think of one I'll get back to you but it's not really that important for the context of the stories that include him.
  • His birthday is November 4, 1988. It's the same birthday as an unrelated person I used to know, and the only reason is so I can remember it. :P
  • He is about 5'10'' or so and fits the stereotypical "college guy." He has blond-ish hair that is crew cut and spiked in the front, wide shoulders and a bigger frame, is somewhat muscular, and wears khaki shorts all the time... and he walks with a wide gait with his feet turned out... like a monkey... lol
A little house narrative:

Up until now, he lived in a house with 3 other guys. (After wondering for so long why he didn't just move in with his druggie friends, I finally decided that he did). All of the narratives of Kyle showing up and melting out of his friend's car take place here. This house is owned by Hector Peak and is right next door to his own family house, to the left (west). Since Hector Peak owns both houses the backyards are merged. It's located in the very northern outskirts of Kalta, so the only thing to the north is vast, brown hills that lead to a large grove of trees in the back of the property. There are 3 horses and some goats and chickens that roam along this land and a small barn to house them. Jeffrey Peak has built a small shed/enclosure in the grove where he often goes to read at night.

The rental house has 4 bedrooms, each one occupied by a Peak family friend, save Jeremy himself.

  • The bedroom farthest in the back is occupied by Arturo Bisa, a very shy Catin guy who keeps to himself a lot. He is a history major and is finishing up his senior year, before embarking on an internship to Catarika to study architecture. He is very neat and clean and enjoys playing cards, video games, or board games with his roomies.
  • The other bedroom on the right side of the house is occupied by Boyd Johnson, a senior music performance/education major who plays the trombone. He is very outgoing and responsible, and a very hard worker. He's known as the builder and is the one to go to for fixing things in the house or doing any DIY stuff.
  • The bedroom straight back is occupied by Jeremy Peak, the eldest son of Hector Peak and brother of Jeffrey Peak. He is a senior history major with an emphasis in Catin deity (because his brother is a Man of Osai). He, along with Boyd and Arturo, go back to high school where they sort of met over time and became great friends. Jeremy is enthusiastic and caring, and maybe a little messy sometimes, but always cleans up. :P
  • The bedroom to the left was Kyle's, but he's since moved out (described below). Even though he struggled with the clutches of drug addiction and seemed to only care about himself, he still paid his rent on time and always did his dirty business away from the house. He never did any damage even during his worst moments and was still very civil and kind. Eventually he moved out, completely conflict free and on great terms. For this the other three were so very grateful.
Click here for a small biography on Kyle, through the words of Jeffrey Peak.

Kyle managed to graduate high school and went onto college, although he only made it to the spring of his junior year before dropping out. He drank almost nightly with his other group of friends and would disappear for weeks.

A list of some of Kyle's friends, which I'll start referencing in future posts:
  • Rico Bohr- a dealer and strong member of the SDFA. He owns his own worn-down trailer in a trailer park about 10 miles northeast of Kalta and earns money by working at a fast food place and selling drugs. I'm not sure what group to classify him under, as he's not really known as a stoner or gamer... he's just a gang member covered in tats and piercings who loves partying and doing live-action RPG's with his buddies.
  • Jaree Milkin- the longtime girlfriend of Rico. She is equally as bad as he is and is his sidekick in about everything they do.
  • Lyle "Blood" Bradley- a skinny, pale, nasty gang member who doesn't really have a home and spends his time split between jail and the couch tour. He frequents Rico's home and instead of buying drugs he cooks them food and does stuff around their house in return. He is an avid RPG'er and is quite funny.
  • Chad "Choby" Hahn- a pretty bad dude who was a good kid but went with the wrong crowd and now is convinced that he is doomed to have this life of crime forever, so he covers up his conscience by drinking more.
The SDFA is a gang that I actually came up with in the 6th grade. Don't worry, I was always a good kid, but I was very interested in rebellion and gangs and all that nasty stuff. I mean, my first draft of Avicile Mohaili was such a trashy, vile being! Like most of my stuff, it comes from an RCT park- in this case, I took a pre-fab park, hired only a few janitors and mechanics to keep it trashy and broken, renamed every ride and stall to a drug theme, and called my park the Smoker Drug Fighting Addict Headquarters, now called SDFA HQ. This square mile or so of guarded, vile bitterness is housed in northern Vetonia. Lots of drugs are made here, including many specialties. For some reason, it hasn't closed down. Even though much of the work is done underground in secret, this gross park owned by a wealthy drug addict is a welcome place for these gangsters to serve as their base.

The Day Kyle Moved Out
It had been speculated for some time that Kyle was going to move out. He had hinted at it a couple times and had started gathering whatever belongings he had into boxes strewn about his room. Jeremy was not too sad to see him go, for he was hardly around. In fact, they all wondered why he hadn't just moved in with Rico and Jaree when they moved into their place. Finally, in early December, just as finals week had descended upon U-Kalta, Kyle came into the house. Arturo greeted him and Kyle told him that he was "movin on out to mah bro Rico's house." Arturo just raised an eyebrow and silently walked ahead of him and picked up a box. It was full of dirty clothes that had been laying around for months, with some tangled cables from his old computer on top.

Jeffrey was home that day, as it was Saturday, and he offered to drive his truck up to Rico's place. Arturo texted him, telling him that Kyle was here for his stuff, and he quickly appeared, tape in hand, ready to get all of Kyle's stuff loaded into the bed of his truck. Kyle was a tiny bit high- whether on some drug or just from some energy drink Jeffrey didn't know, but it made Kyle hyper and in a pleasant mood, anyway. He talked a mile a minute and almost nonstop about how he was going to live in Rico's big trailer that he had just added on to and that he was going to cover his bed with Ninja Turtles sheets and how they were gonna play their drinking games all night and then play RPG's until daytime and then they were going to go for late night fast food and all the more sorts of things... Jeffrey and Arturo shared a look and just smiled and nodded as Kyle talked their ears off.

His last stop was to Hector Peak himself. Kyle met him at his front door and handed him his contract and the last payments for his rent, all in full. He managed to shake his weird high and appear professional for a bit. He shook his hand and thanked him for allowing him to live there. Hector was pleased and smiled as he wished Kyle the best. With that, Kyle waved at them all and hopped in the truck. Jeffrey climbed in, adjusted the seat (for he is much shorter than his brother and father), and turned out onto the main country road that would lead them to the awful place in Teckville where Rico's trailer park was located. The whole time, Kyle talked away, not really looking at anything. His eyes were pinpoints and appeared glazed. Jeffrey sighed as he thought back to how good Kyle once was and what he had now become, but was glad that he was responsible and considerate enough not to do this at their home.

Soon enough Jeffrey was steering the truck down into the degraded darkness of the trailer park. Rico's was easy to spot- it looked like 3 trailers taped together and the outside of the blue trimmed filthy white panels was covered in windchimes. Rico was sprawled across an old, faded beach chair having a smoke, his arms and legs red with cold sticking out from his shorts and plaid flannel shirt. He apparently didn't notice or care that it was quite cold out. When he saw the truck roll by, he got up quickly and walked up to it. Jeffrey peaked it and got out, along with Kyle. Rico shook Jeffrey's hand and got to work taking the boxes out of the back. Kyle ran up to him, totally beside himself with excitement that he would finally legitimately be living with him, and began talking a mile a minute to him.

"Wat-choo been smokin bro??" Rico exclaimed.
"Wuthoo mean bro? I'r on litening!!!" Kyle shot back, spitting and slurring the whole way.

They got all of Kyle's stuff unpacked and as Jeffrey left to go back to the peace and sanity of his own home, he could hear Rico say "Look Kyle! I got-choo a housewarming gift! Some rum!!" Jeffrey scowled while trying to stifle a giggle and quickly sped off, knowing that he and Kyle would meet again soon.
